MARIST CLUB'S TROPHIES CHAMPION TEAM HONOURS The presentation of club trophies won during the season was made at the annual dance of the Marist Old Boys' Rugby League Club, held at the Manchester UnityHall on Saturday evening. There was an attendance of over 300 club members anil supporters. After complimenting the club on its progress, both socially and on the field, the president, Mr. J. Sayegh, invited the chairman of the Auckland Rugby League control board, Mr. G. Grey Campbell, to present the Auckland senior championship trophy, Fox Memorial Shield, and the Thistle Cup for most points in the second round. Mr. Campbell congratulated the Marist team and also referred to the success of the game. He said that next season would provide the greatest of incentives, as the news of an invitation for a New Zealand team to go to England indicated. Mr. Clear.v presented a set of gold medals to the senior team and Mr. Sayegh announced that special blazers were also to be issued to the players. Club prizes were awarded as follows: — Senior reserve: McLeod (most improved plaver> and Stanaway (most conscientious at 'training). Third grade: McWilliains and Hughes. All the foregoing players also received companion sets. Sixth grade: S. Bracegirdle. In recognition of his services to the club R [j. Haslam was presented with a handbag. Mr. Sayegh remarking that, in spite of Haslam's announced intention to retire, it was hoped he would be available next year. The club's new official badges, a shamrock, with the title initials on the green petals, over a gold background, were issued during an enjoyable evening.
