SO LONG AS WATER RUNS

Four Red Tndian3 of the Ojibwav tribe in Quebec, Canada, have been charged with spearing fish during the closed season. Chief Bigwin pleaded for his tribesmen and claimed that the waters of Lake St. John, where it was said the offence took place, are part of preserved land and are therefore immune from provincial game laws. The chief went on to say, " Queen Victoria told my father and myself tha* so long as the grass grows and the water runs I and my children may hunt and fish for ever and ever." A delightful phrase, surely, which wo may hope saved the situation.
