HELPING THE SOLDIER In future the British infantry soldier is to tarry less weight and that hotter adjusted. Alter trials of experimental web equipment, a new set of "web equipment 19137" has been approved, and it was announced the other day that issue wdl be made in accordance with a programme spread over a period of years. The issue of the first set to all Regular infantry battalions at homo and abroad should be completed by the end of this year or early in 1939. Larger and deeper than the 1908 pattern,, the haversack in the new equipment will carry the mpss tin, waterbottle, and the other articles essential to the man in actiou. The pack holding the remaining articles required on active service will be carried in tho unit's motor-transport vehicles.
