CRICKET SEASON

SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP FIRST SERIES OF MATCHES INTERESTING POSITIONS The first scries of matches in the senior championship of the Auckland Cricket Associhtion will bo concluded to-day. Three of the games are in an interesting position, and close finishes aro likely. In the principal match at Eden Park, Grafton scored 211 against Parnell, which replied with 52 for one wickei. Eden, which occupied the batting croase all the afternoon last Saturday, compiled 227 against University. The latter is a fairly strong batting side, and the total under good conditions should not be beyond it. ¥.M.C.A. appears to be in a winning position in the match with North Shore at Dovonport. North Shore made 17.1, and Y.M.C.A. replied with 152 for geven wickets. Ponsonby-Balmoral has played itself into a winning position against Middlemore at Victoria Park by scoring 451 for the loss of six wickets. Lower grade competitions will bo continued to-day.
