STOCKS AND SHARES
(THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE SMALL PRICE MOVEMENTS Sharo prices moved within narrow margins on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. The trend of values was slightly firmer, but business was more restricted. Recent popularity of gilt-edged issues again was evident in the heavy dealing which took place in both Government loans and local body debentures. Banks were quieter. New Zealands " again sold at the recently reduced . level, where more were available. Australian banks were firmer. Leading , Dominion insurances presented a stronger front, and New Zealands changed hands at a slight advance. There was a firmer trend in breweries, and New Zealands gained ground in two transfers. Industrials sold fairly freely at about current levels. G. J. Coles and Alloys Steel (Australia) both were taken at higher prices. Colonial Sugars again eased.
