DECISION STILL IN DOUBT CLOSE CANTERBURY BALLOT FEDERATION OF LABOUR ISSUE [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] CHRISTCH.URCH, Friday With 38 votes yet to be counted—and they are the subject of legal argument —supporters of the continuance of the affiliation of the Canterbury Clerical Workers' Union to the New Zealand Clerical Einployeos' Association have a majority of 17 votes over those cast for disaffiliation. If the proposal to disaffiliate is carried, tho union's association with the Federation of Labour will automatically case. %The count of votes cast in tho postal ballot was made on Tuesday evening, and a statement on tho position was made this afternoon by the president of tho union, Mr. G. Gillespie. "All the papers are not counted, and the present state of the ballot is that the majority in favour % of retaining affiliation is 17," said Mr. Gillespie. The present state of voting is: For disaffiliation, 555; against disaffiliation, 572; informal, 1.
