AUSTRALIAN MINES TWO NEW DISPUTES BOYCOTT BY THE MEN OWNERS RETALIATE By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright (Received October 24, 10.45 p.m.) SYDNEY. Oct. 24 A hitch occurred in the arrangements for the reopening of the coalmines to-day. This was due to fresh disputes at two northern and southern pits, which the miners boycotted. The mineowncrs as a reprisal immediately announced that all the pits would remain closed the whole of to-mqrrow and that the mon ttould have until noon to call off these disputes. Although tho coal miners generally •expressed willingness to return to work last week tho colliery proprietors had then given no intimation as to when they would bo prepared to reopen the mines. Tho miners' president announced on October 15 that if tho mines wero rot reopened within 10 days there would be serious developments. A representative of leading coal owners said unofficially that it was unlikely "that work would begin in tho mines -last week. It was expected, however, 'that the mines would be opened yester«day.
