WATERSIDE WORK

CLAIMS FOR AN AWARD ASSESSORS HEAR EVIDENCE The discussion of provisions for a Dominion award was continued yesterday by assessors for the New Zealand Waterside Employers' Association and the New Zealand Waterside Workers' Union before the Conciliation Commissioner, Mr. R. E. Price. Matters relating principally to the Auckland waterfront were dealt with, both parties submitting evidence. The assessors will probably finish hearing evidence in Auckland to-morrow afternoon after which they will proceed to Napier, Dunedin and Wellington. Today they will be mainly occupied with questions affecting work in smaller ports of the Auckland Province. No attempt will be made to come to agreement on any of the major points in dispute until evidence has been taken at the southern ports.
