CLOSE ELECTION POLL
MID-CANTERBURY MARGIN 780 VOTES YET TO COME MEN ON PUBLIC WORKS [by telkgraph—own correspondent] ASHBURTON, Wednesday With over 780 postal and absentee votes to be counted and the rolls to be purged, it will be Tuesday before the final declaration of the Mid-Canter-bur.v poll. Mr. A. N. Grigg (National) is at present 48 votes ahead of Mr. H. E. Herring (Labour'). There is considerable interest in the position, as many of the absentee voters are public works men recently transferred to other electorates.
