TE RAPA DOINGS

FOREST ACRE VERY FIT SOLID ROUND WITH MALAGIGI ORWERE REGISTERS BEST SIX [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] HAMILTON, Tuesday Solid efforts over a distance by Forest Acre, Malagigi and Sergia, and a smart six furlongs by Orwere, were features of the work at To Rnpa this morning, when horses claiming engagements at the approaching Labour Day meeting at Cambridge were galloped 011 the course proper, 30ft. out from the rails. The going was in splendid order, and conditions generally were pleasant. Little Leslie (Woodward), Ngaranui (0. Mclnaily) and Midland (It. E. Thomson) were as named at tho end of half a milo in 545. Kilboris (C. L. Goulsbro) ran once round in 2.9 1-5. Kilberis is making steady progress. Tosh (Mclnaily), who has been moving along pleasingly since recovering from the mishap ho met with some weeks ago, went five furlongs in 1.10, speding up to record 40s for the last three.

Racelino (McKenzio) dashed over three furlongs in 38s, and impressed by tho manner in which he revelled in his work. The best time over a round was credited to Forest Acre (Gollop), who finished a length in front of Malagigi (Goulsbro) in 2.3 1-5. Forest Acre established an early break on his companion and, although tho latter had reduced the gap appreciably at the post, Forest Acre was holding him. Forest Acre was carrying a very light weight, but his display was promising. Ho may make amends at Cambridge for his narrow defeat on the first day at Paeroa.

Mangukaha and Hempton Mangukaha (MeKenzie) and Hempton (Hain) were associated over five furlongs in 1.0, the last three taking 38js. Both were travelling evenly at the finish.

The two-year-olds Lady Waimai '.Gollop) and Valtour (Goulsbro) dashed over two furlongs along the back in 25 l-ss. Goldation (Thomson) and Free Advice (Ensor) were practically on terms at the end of half a mile in 525.

Cappy (light boy) ran six furlongs in 1.19, Sergia (Winder) bringing him home over the last half-mile in 535. Sergia is improved as the result of her Paeroa exortions, and should strip- in good fettle at Cambridge. Mio Fratollo (Thomson) and Little Briton (Long) were together over five furlongs in 1.4 J. Little Briton, who was earlier jumped over two hurdles well, is not without prospects at the Waikato Hunt meeting. The best six furlongs was that of Orwere (McLaughlin), who came homo in 1.17 1-5, the last five occupying 1.4 4-5. Orwere did his work well, snd will have to be reckoned with in the Bruntwood Handicap on Monday. Smart Three by Calorie

Silver Countess (Day) ran three furlongs in 395, Calorie (Thomson) following over the sahio ground in 37Js. Calorie is steadily on the improve, and may be seen to advantage when called upon to race. Among those allotted strong work wore Allegretto, Sir Tommy and Prince Rangi. Allegretto was worked on the sand and, although he is a trifle burly in appearance, he looks to have come through any amount of solid road work. He is to make a reappearance after a lengthy spoil in the Waikato Hunt Cup at Cambridge.

On the sand, Hunting Blood (Goulsbro) ran six furlongs in 1.22. Aramis OVinder) schooled satisfactorily over two fences of the steeplechase country, and subsequently worked freely over a round.

Tavern Song (R. E. Thomson) and Sinking Fund (Day) were companions over a round of the hurdles. Except that Tavern Song struck hard at the last, they gave a fine exhibition of fast and clever jumping. Another pleasing display was credited to Centaurus (Winder) and Cynical Smilo (Day), who'went well. Green Label (Watson) and Latour's Last (R. E. Thomson) negotiated a round of the hurdles satisfactorily.
