DOG OUTSIDE WINDOW
EARLY MORNING INCIDENT CHARGES AGAINST MASTER The' agitation of a small wire-haired terrier outside the premises of Alder and Company, Limited, Road, early in the morning of August 23, Was responsible for tho appearance of Michael Stewart, a jockey, aged 23, before Mr. Justice Callan m tho Supreme Court yesterday. Stewart was charged with breaking and entering and stealing £2 10s. There were alternative counts of stealing tho money, or receiving it in the knowledge that it was stolon. Mr. G. S. R. Meredith appeared for the Crown, and Mr. J. J. Sullivan represented accused. The case for the Crown, Mr. Meredith said, was that at about 1 a.m. on August 23, two men wore walking along the road past the premises ot Alder and Company, Limited, when they saw a small dog standing in front of the building and whining. They patted the animal, which stopped whining as they approached, but as soon as they began to walk away it began to whine again. it appeared to De looking toward a window. Mr. Meredith continued, and when the two men looked in that direction they saw the window was broken. They summoned the police. Accused came out of the building and began to run away, but they caught him. He was handed over to the police. The dog followed the party up tho road. It belonged to Stewart. The case was only partly heard when it was adjourned until this morning.
