OPEN DAT TOUENEY EVENTS HELD AT MANUKAU COURSE RECORD BROKEN REVELL'S FINE PERFORMANCE A course record of 71 was established by E. Re veil in the open-day tournament held on the Manukau links. S. E. CHAPPELL BEATS BROTHER In the final of the Orakei Golf Club's senior championship, S. £. Chappell defeated bis brother, W. H- Chappell, 5 and 3. BOYS' TOURNAMENT ' COMPETITION AT WHANGAREI [from our own correspondent] WHANGAREI. Monday One of the outstanding events of the golfing year, at least so far as the boys are concerned, is their annual match played "at the Mount Denby links of the Whangarei Golf Club. The competition is open to any boy under 18 years of age. This year's contest proved a great success, and the boys, even down to the 14-year-olds, showed that they had a good grip of the game. The scoring was of a very good standard, considering the age of the contestants. Jack Paris, with a remaVkably good score of 102 gross for 18 holes, annexed the gross trophy. ,while the diminutive Noel Steadman finished strongly with four at the 17th and three at the 18th to record a net 73 in the handicap event. In the minor events Paris won the best nine-hole gross and also the handicap, his best round being -14 gross for nine holes. R. Fox, a boy who has a pleasing style, scored a net 36 to win tftp handicap on (he first round after a play-on with Steadman, in which he holed a sixfooter on the home green to win by a stroke.
