FARMHOUSE BURNED
FLAMES FANNED BY WIND OUTBREAK AT HENDERSON BRIGADE'S HOPELESS TASK Fanned by a strong westerly wind a fire of unknown origin destroyed a 10roomed farmhouse in Valley Road, Henderson, yesterday morning. The owner of the house, Mr. John Edwards, was absent at the time. x The fire was first noticed* about 10.45 a.m. by a railway employeej Mr. Patrick Kelleher, who was working in the vicinity. He summoned the Henderson fire brigade, which was handicapped by the fact that the house stood back several nundreds yards from the road and only one lead of hose could be brought into commission. The house, a single-storey building about 50 years old, was burned to the ground, none of the contents being saved. j Insurance on the house and furniture totalled £3OO, placed with the Standard Insurance Company, Limited.
