THE MINING MARKET INTEREST IN METALS SHARE - VALUES ADVANCE - \ Base metal shares commanded .most attention from operators in the mining market on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday, higher London prices. HIGHER SHIPPING PROFIT FURNESS, WITHY'S PROGRESS The great British shipping concern Furness, Withy and Company, Limited, controller of the Shaw, Savill and Albion Line has announced that its trading results for 1937-38 are the best it has had for ten years. The profits for the year were £621,000, an increase ot' £76,000 over the previous year, and nearly £2OO,(XX) better than in 1935-36. The profits were calculated only after £350,000 had been set aside for depreciation, • and £200,000 carried to reserves. j
