RHODES SCHOLARS
SELECTION COMMITTEE CHOOSING TWO STUDENTS DATE OF MEETING FIXED [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] WELLINGTON. Thursday The date for the meeting at Government House, Wellington, of the Rhodes Scholarship Selection Committee to select two Rhodes Scholars to go into residence at Oxford University next year has been tentatively set down for November 25. It is considered that this date will be adhered to. The selection committee is comprised of the Governor-General, Lord Galway, Sir Michael Myers (Chief Justice), Sir Andrew Russell (Hastings), the Hon. J. A. Hanan (Dunedin), Professor J. Hight (Christchurch), Mr. S. N. Ziman (Hamilton) and Dr. A L Haslam (Christchurch).
Two Rhodes Scholarships are assigned to New Zealand each year. Tenable at Oxford, they are of an annual value of £4OO each, and are of three years duration. The selected scholars are required to take up residence in October of the year for which they are elected.
