TUNNEL UNDER THAMES
PILOT BORING COMPLETED (Received October 6, 5.5 p.m.) British Wireless RUGBY. Oct. 6 The pilot boring of the Dartford to Purileet tunnel, under tho Thames, which will join the counties of Essex and Kent, was completed yesterday when the last five-foot curtain of chalk was broken. There was an error of only threeeighths of an inch in the line and threesixteenths of an inch in the level of the tunnel when the two borings from the Essex and Kent sides met. The total length of the pilot tunnel is 2832 feet.
