DAIRY PRODUCTION NORTHERN FACTORIES DECREASE IN OUTPUT [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] WHANGAREI, Thursday . Owing to unfavourable weather during the past month, the output of some dairy factories in Whangarei district has shown a decrease, compared with the figures for the same month last year. The cold snap and the sudden change to dry weather has retarded the growth of pastures, and there is little grass for the dairy herds. The Whangarei factory produced .214 tons 9cwt. of butter during September. and a total for this season to date of 356 tons.lOcwt. This compares unfavourably with the 220 tons . produced in September last year, and tht> 378 tons 18cwt. for the same period of the season. . The Waipu factory's output for September was 46 tons, compared with 51 tons in the same month last season, j while the season's output- shows a substantial decrease.

MINING NEWS EMPEROR DIVIDEND COMPANY'S INITIAL PAYMENT A dividend of' Is a share has been declared bv the directors of Emperor Gold Mines, Limited, Melbourne, payable 011 November 10, according to ] cabled advice received by the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. This is the first dividend announced by the company, which is mining at Tavua, Fiji. The company's shares are 10s each fully paid. Some months ago a large treatment plant wns brought into operation and eight months' operations yielded approximately £304,000. WORKSOP DISTRIBUTION A dividend of 10 per cent (No. 12), free of income tax, has been declared by the directors of Worksop Extended Gold Dredging Company. Limited (West Coast), payable 011 October 17. The dividend requires £I6OO. making a total of 19,200 distributed by the company. General reserve has been increased to £1920 by the addition of £l6O. VICTORIAN PRODUCTION Tho gold yield for Victoria in August was 13,994 fine oz.. valued in Australian currency at £123,876.
