BLOMFIELD DEFEATS NUMA INTERVENTION OF THE POLICE [by telegraph—own correspondent] HAMILTON, Thursday For the second time within a fortnight the police had to intervene in a professional heavyweight wrestling contest between Lofty Blomfield, 16st 51b. and Leo Numa, of America, 16st, in Hamilton to-night. The bout, which was staged before a large attendance in the Theatre Royal, was won by Blomfield by two falls to one. . ■■ ' • ; • • A ■ Blomfield pained a penalty fall in the third round, when Numa persisted in the use of his knees and fists, and the American equalised in the fifth round when he pinned his. opponent with a body press. Blomfield gained the decision in the seventh round when he pinned Numa following an exchange of elbow jolts. The contestants continued punching after the referee had left the ring, a sergeant and three constables having to separate tho pair.
