PAPATOETOE BAND
REVIVAL ARRANGED ■ TOWN BOARD. SUPPORT The reeonstitution of the Papatoetoe Town Buiul, which went into recess about 12 months ago, was agreed to last night at the Papatoetoe Town Bdard meeting, when it received a deputation of players arid' interested residents. A petition signed by 26 players requested the board to approve of the re-formation of, the band, which would be known; as the Papatoetoe Silver Band. * • V Several speakers said a meeting of interested residents had been held and enthusiastic support w*as -promised. Temporary officers hads been appointed and Mr. P. F. Jarrett had consented to act as conductor pending a permanent appointment being made. It was intended to, commejice practice immediately if the • board , would, make the instruments available. . : Mr. W. J. Nicholson, chairman of tlio Finance' Committee, said no sum had been put on this year's estimates. He suggested that the instruments be mnde available to enable the players to commence. practice, the present officers -;to accept responsibility. : • It was' decided to adopt this courso amkto have the board's sub-committee with the players and bring down fa report on constitution, covering the financial commitments proposed to be met by the board.
