WEEK-END ATTRACTIONS

REPRESENTATIVE LEAGUE RACE MEETING AT PAEROA A variety of sporting attractions is to take place this week-end. The Rugby League football event will be the final match of the visiting Eastern Suburbs team, of Sydney,, which will meet a Richmond team. The match is expected to provide an outstanding exhibition of football, as the teams will be well matched. The game will be at flarlaw Park.

The Rugby Union season will be brought to a close this afternoon, when the main contest at Eden Park will be the " match between Ponsonby and Marist for the Jubilee Trophy. Five teams issued challenges for the trophy, and Marist was selected to meet Ponsonby, the winners of the senior championship. The Auckland Football Association's knock-out competition for the Falcon Cup will be completed to-day at Blandford Park, where the finalist*. Navy and Abels, will meet. The first round of the Auckland Golf Club's senior and intermediate championships and matches in the junior and C grade championships will be played to-day, while the semi-final of the Maungakiekie Club's championship will be contested. At, Titirangi, the second round of the senior and intermediate championships will be played. Championships will be continued at other clubs. Bowlers will be interested in the annual match between the ex-Otago and Southland team, and the Balmoral Bowling Club this afternoon. Several tennis clubs will hold opening functions, while cricket practices are to be held in preparation for the season. The annual Y.W.C.A. sports day will be held at the Training College grounds. Well-contested events are expected to-day at Paeroa, where the first day of the' Ohinemuri Jockey Club's meeting will be held.
