FORGOTTEN WIVES

WARM tribute was paid by Lady "" Harlech to women members of the Colonial Service at a luncheon in London not long ago. "The men of the Colonial Service have their work and their careers," she said, "and the country recognises their value and their devotion to tradition. "I think that the wives are sometimes forgotten. The real burden of a tropical climate, of frequent separation from children, and of setting an example of what an .English home means in the Colonial dependencies, often under great difficulties, makes very great demands upon these women. "It is impossible, therefore, to overstate their wonderful devotion."
