SEPTEMBER FIGURES I JJINE MONTHS' EXPENDITURE i ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ MORE NEW DWELLINGS The city building statistics for September show that, although the amount expended was slightly lower than recorded for the same month of last year, it brought tho total of the outlay on buildings for the nine months of the year to over three-quarters of a million, or close, on £140,000 better than for the January-September period of 1937. During September, 133 building permits were issued by the Auckland City Council, of a total value of £69,047, as against £74,599 for September, 1937, and £70,006 for the same month in 1936. The largest individual permits included in last month's figures were for a block of three flats, another for a block of four fiats, alterations to a theatre, and the erection of a small factory. In addition lo numerous additions and alterations to existing buildings, there were peimits for 31 dwellings. • . In that number, however, there were 15 costing from £IOOO to £1750. So far this year 227 new homes have been built, as against 236 for the same period last year, and 290 for the first nine months of 1936.
