Thunder and lightning were accompanied hv a gale which plucked tents from the ground and dumped them hundreds of feet away. Trees were uprooted and sheets of iron hurtled through the air. Although 110 one was injured there were many narrow escapes. One workman was lying in bed with measles when an iron gable shorn from a lint some distance away was hurled against his tent. It struck one of the stout poles of the tent and the man was unscathed.
