OCCASIONAL BAIN MODERATE TEMPERATURES The weather report and forecast -for, New Zealand issued by the Government;} meteorologist last evening; .were as fol/ lows: —All anti-cyclono is now centred west of the Auckland Peninsula. A shallow depression, which is followed by one or more secondaries, is crossing the South Island. The forecast is for south-westerly winds at times over the southern half of the South Island, but northerlies to north-westerlies generally predominating, strong at times from Taranaki and Hawke's Bay southward, otherwise light to moderate. Seas rough at times about Cook and Foveaux Straits, and rather rough on the west coast of the South Island; otherwise slight to moderate. Eastern Tasinan Sea: Light to moderate, but at times freshening winds between north-west and south-west; seas slight to moderate. The weather is likely" to he cloudy to overcast, and with occasi on a 1 rain at many places in western districts from Kawhia southward, and scattered showers in eastern districts of the South Island from Canterbury southward. Elsewhere fair to fine. Temperatures moderate to mild.

SPECIAL AUCKLAND FORECAST FAIR TO FINE AND MILD The Government meteorologist issued to the Herald last evening the following special forecast for the Auckland Province: —Light to moderate and variable winds, with northerlies to north-westerlies predominating. The weather is likely to be fair to hne and mild. Seas slight to moderate. YESTERDAY'S WEATHER Auckland. —Another fine day, with a light wind moving between south and south-west, was experienced. The maximum temperature was 64 degrees and the minimum 49 degrees. Barometricpressure rose slightly. Barometer, midnight, steady .. 30.31 in. Midnight, Tuesday .. .. 30.23ia. Wellington.—The day was fair to fine and mild, with a northerly wind which gradually freshened. The maximum temperature was 57.9 At a p.m. the barometer read 30.077 in. Christcliurch. —The morning was fino but the sky clouded in the afternoon There was a light easterly wind and the maximum temperature was 57.2 degrees. At 5 p.m. the barometer was almost steady at 30.031 in. Dunedin.—The sky was overcast, no sunshine being recorded. Temperatures were mild, the maximum being 56 degrees. There was little wind.
