CROQUET
PORTLAND CLUB [from our own correspondent] WHANGAREI, Alonday Tho report presented at the annual meeting of tho Portland Croquet Club stated that the greens wero in good order for opening day, wliich had been fixed for October 22, and that prospects were bright for tho coming season. The building of a new pavilion last year had entailed ■ considerable expenditure, but tho financial position of the club was quite satisfactory. Officers were elected as follows:—President, Mrs. \V. E. Williams; vice-president. Airs. V. Peterwood; secretary and treasurer, Mrs. A. J. Neal; committee, Mesdames T. H. Wilson, F. Cower, J. Pink, J. Bulmer and L. Priestly.
