TOWN HALL CONCERTS

Sir, —At the Lawrence Tibbett concerts last week, the strange habit that Auckland audiences have acquired of applauding almost before the item is finished was again forced upon niv notice. The lovely atmosphere created by an artist's rendition of a song and pianoforte solo is shattered immediately, instead of lingering for at least a few seconds before appreciation is shown by clapping. Another thing that has so often marred an item in the Town Hall is the striking of the clock; surely on nights when there is a concert in progress, the strike could be stopped? Music Lovek.
