AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP The Auckland Provincial amateur snooker championship for the Billiards, Limited, Cup was continued last evening at Messrs. Billiards, Limited, showrooms. L. F. W. Holdsworth, the New Zealand amateur billiards champion, was opposed by H. Miller irt- a match in the second round. Holdsworth displayed great accuracy in the first game. The black twice and later the blue twice, followed by the pink, were his chief scoring strokes. Miller secured the black and potted excellently whenever opportunities arose. Holdsworth potted brilliantly throughout the game, however, and won comfortably. Miller gained an early lead in the second game by potting the black and then a pink. Holdsworth gave a nice display in potting the black, the pink and the blue in one break and gained a slight advantage. Miller evened up the scores at 23 by adding the black to his score. Each playor potted the black and Holdsworth got the blue with the last red and at this stage had a lead of 15 points with the last five halls on the table. Miller made a great effort to win against his more experienced opponent and required the last three balls to tie. Holdsworth. howover, potted the blue and the pink to win after a good display by both players. S. Molloy met E. C. Sutton in the second contest. Sutton played very steadiy and gained a useful lead. Molloy, however, displayed accuracy and got within striking distance with the last two reds loft. He potted the black with the last red and also got the yellow and the green. He required the last three balls after Sutton had taken tho brown, but the latter also got the blue and the pink. Tho scoring fluctuated in the second game. Molloy potted the blue and tho pink and had a slight advantage with the pool balls left.
