! CZECH COMMUNISTS "WILL DEFEND OURSELVES M PRIME MINISTER'S ASSURANCE ACTIONS OF GOVERNMENT By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received September 'JO, 5.5 p.m.) PRAGUE, Sept. 20 Dr. K. Gottwald, president of the Czech Communist Party, in a statement before the permanent committee of Parliament, said: "There is no person in Czechoslovakia with powers to carry through something against which stands united the whole Czechoslovak people, besides the masses of supporters of Herr Henlein, who demand a just settlement without occupation by the Reich. "Britain and France for tho last 20 years have demanded that we should maintain our frontiers in the interests of the defence of Central and Eastern Europe against the German drive to the east. We are sure the British and French peoples think differently from the Ministers at tho London conference.
"We shall not stand by and let the republic be destroyed, but will defend ourselves in the sure knowledge that Russia will bo loval to her treatv."
The Prime Minister, Dr. Hodza, said the Government would do everything to assure that the interests of the country and people were not violated.
FEAR OF CONFLICT EXODUS FROM GERMANY FOREIGN NATIONALS NO PUBLIC HYSTERIA BERLIN, Sept. 19 Large numbers of foreigners continue to leave Germany, some of whom have been residents for years. One Embassy has a list of all nationals who will leave by diplomatic train in the event of a conflict.
Notwithstanding the unremitting campaign of hate against the Czechs in the German Press, there is no sign of any wave of hysteria among Germans generally. There is not even a guard at the Czech Legation or the travel bureau.
HUNGARY RESTIVE CLAIMS AGAINST CZECHS LONDON, Sept. 19 A message from Budapest states that Admiral liortliy, Regent of Hungary, is asking for support from Herr Hitler and Air. Chamberlain for Hungary's territorial claims against Czechoslovakia. Renter's correspondent say* he has learned from a diplomatic source that Admiral Horthy will visit Herr Hitler at Berchtesgaden to-day.
IL DUCE AND YUGOSLAVS TRIESTE, Sept. 19 Signor Mussolini to-dav paid a courtesy visit to the Yugoslavian frontier and exchanged friendly greetings with a Yugoslav regiment.
