MEETING OF SCIENTISTS
GATHERING IN AUSTRALIA MANY DISTINGUISHED VISITORS Many distinguished overseas scientists have been invited to attend tho 2-ttli meeting of the Australian and New Zealand Association for the Advancement of Science, to bo held at Canberra in January. Invited by the Australian Government, which is acting in co-operation with the association, visitors from England will include Sir John Flett, who retired in 1935 from the position of Director of the Geological Survey
of Great Britain; Professor F. T. Brooks, professor of botany at tljc Cambridge University; Professor N. V. Sidgwick, of Lincoln College, Oxford, immediato past president of the Chemical Society; and Mr. H. 6. Wells. The American Association for the Advancement of Science will be represented by Professor 11. Carr, professor of agricultural chemistry at Purdie University, La Fayette, Indiana. The Liversidge Lecture is to be delivered by Professor H. G. Denham, of Canterbury University College.
