DEATH OF MR. J. J. ROUSE MAN OF WIDE INTERESTS (Received September 7, 7.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, Sept. 7 The death has occurred of Mr. John Joseph Rouse, chairman of, Kodak (Australasia) Proprietary, Limited, aged 77.
Closely associated with . Kodak (New Zealand) Limited, Mr. Rouse was well known to professional photographers. He was born at Port Melbourne, Victoria, in 1861, and was educated at the Melbourne Grammar School, after which he took up professional photography, being one of the first users of the dry plate process then being manufactured by Mr. Thomas Baker. LATE MR. J. J. ROUSE lished. In 1907 tho firm amalgamated with tiio Kodak organisation and wai formed into a limited company, with Mr. Rouse as managing director. During recent years he has been chairman of directors and his only son, Mr. E. J. Rouse, who is at present in London on a business visit, is managing director of the company. Apart from his associations with tho Kodak organisations, Mr. Rouse was chairman of the Eagle, Star and British Dominions Insurance Company, Limited, and a director of Helton Bellbird Colliery, Limited, Spencers Pictures, Limited, and life governor of the principal hospitals, in the Commonwealth. He was a member of many Australian clubs, including prominent racing, golf, yachting and cricket organisations.
