SAVIDAN MAY COMPETE [BY THLEGRAI'II —OWN COMIUSPONDKXT] NEW PLYMOUTH, Wednesday " Although he was omitted from tho Auckland team to competo at tho New Zealand cross-country championships at New Plymouth next Saturday, it is believed that J. W. Savldan.' the outstanding distance runner in the country at present, will be a competitor in a private capacity. Acconunodation has been reserved for him at £vcw Plymouth, but no definite ndvicc has yet been received. Thirty-eight competitors, including «ix teams representing tho Auckland, iHayke's Bay-Poverty Bay, West Coast, Wellington, Otago and Southland Centres, aro expected to start. The Auckland contingent will arrive on Friday morning and with tho others will be conducted oVor .the course that morning. In tho afternoon, visits will be paid to a dairy factory, a model farm, and to the Manukorihi Pa at Waitara.
