DEATH OF CARTOONIST
MR. TOM GLOVER former new zealander (Received September 7, 7.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, Sept. 7 ;- r -The death occurred suddenly to-day ~?of. a well-known cartoonist, Mr. Tom Glover, of the Sun newspaper, aged 47. —" jtilr. Glover, who was one of the most -popular cartoonists in Australia, began _,bis career in Wellington. He came to Zealand from London, where ho "was born, and followed var..ous occubefore he became a cartoonist. -I'Amfing his occupations was that of lift;;onan and his habit of adorning the '.sides of his lift with drawings caused "r-aix. acquaintance to suggest that he .'should develop his talent. "--'/ About' 1915 he obtained a junior on the literary staff of the - Dominion and at the next general elec--otion his political cartoons were published in the Dominion. This attracted attention to his work and lie -obtained the position of cartoonist on New Ze&land Truth.
3L(*Mr. Glover's reputation spread to Sydney and in 1922 he was offered and , accepted the position of cartoonist on . the Bulletin. There he remained for
three or four years until he transferred itcrithe Sydney Sun, which had emhim ever since.
