LABOUR DEMONSTRATION

POLITICAL GESTURE PROCESSION TO DOMAIN A political gesture is to be made by Auckland trades unionists on Sundaj, October 9, when a procession organised by the local council of the Federation of Labour will march from Prince's Wharf gates, up Queen Street, across Grafton Bridge and to the Domain, where a mass demonstration will be held. Thousands of yellow^leaflets have been printed and handed to secretaries of trades unions for distribution - among their members. These leaflets bear the message: " Labour demonstrates its strength. Every trade unionist, Labour Party supporter, your wives and children must take part in tins display of Labour's might." ' Union secretaries said yesterday that the procession was quite frankly a political move just before the general election. Mr. A. McLagan, president of the Federation of Labour, would be present at the Domain to address the assemblage, and it was hoped by the local council that the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. P. Somplo, would be able to attend. Probably there would also be a mass meeting at the Town Hall that night.
