POWER WIRES BROKEN

POLE STRUCK BY CAR DRIVER BREAKS TWO RIBS A number of telophone and electric power wires were broken when a light car struck a pole in Balmoral Road shortly after mid-day yesterday, and the driver, Mr. Thomas Carter, of 55 Dexter Avenue, Mount Eden, received two broken ribs when tho impact threw him against the driving wheel. He was able to go home. The car, which had just turned out of Sandringham Road into Balmoral Road, was crushed in at the front. The polo was pushed out of alignment and tho shock caused several telephone wires and one or two power wires to snap. , v Telephone and power linesmen were on the scene within a short time and temporary repairs were carried out.
