Paynter, had a narrow g escape when the house they occupy caught fire early yesterday morniug« vj Mrs. Paynter awoke to find herself 1 :j penned in her room by a wall of flames in the passage. She had to scramble through a small space at the top of the window to rouse hot husband m another room where he lgv illDense smoke was drifting across the street when the fire brigade arrived, , bus the flames were controlled befor® they reached the exterior walls of thfl '■ house.
