ELLERSLIE WORK

USEFUL SPRINTING THREE FURLONGS BY KELLY SILVER QUEX GOES NICELY TRILLIARCH AND GLOUCESTER Useful sprints under adverse conditions went to the credit of Kilonsa, Valspcar and Silver Quex at Ellerslio yesterday morning. The No. 3 grass, with the trestles 10ft. out, was open for galloping, tho going being very heavy. The sand track, which came in for a good deal of use, provided comparatively good going. Knight of Australia (Clarke) and Wee Pat (Tremain) strodo over six furlongs in 1.29 2-5. Both worked solidly without being required to do their best.

Mai do Mer (Tucker) was under a good hold while running six furlongs in 1.29 3-5. Tybalt (Gilchrist) handled tho going well while sprinting three furlongs in 41s. Palmint (Tonks) was to have accompanied him, but ho was past tho peg when ho jumped away and consequently could not bo timed, although he finished practically on terms with Tybalt. Bonnybelle (Tremain) was not troubled to run three furlongs in 43 l-ss.

Summary (Tucker) covered fivo furlongs, averaging 15s to tho furlong. Electric Spear (Fearn) went over half a milo in his usual easy manner to register 58 l-os. Kenspeckle (Cammick) strode over five furlongs without being required to make time. Ho is making good progress and is a likely sort for a jumper. Valmint (Messorvy) was allowed to easo up over the final stages of six furlongs in 1.25 2-5. Marheke Improved

Kelly (Gilchrist) moved well while sprinting three furlongs in 40 2-ss, and he looked to have a little in hand at the finish. Kelly is shaping up well and is to bo given a race on tho second day of tho Avoydale meeting. Hunting Maid (Tremain) was allotted an easy task over half a mile, averaging 15s to tho furlong. Marheke (Stokes) went a similar distance and was timed to complete the last three furlongs in 44 3-ss. Although she has not been required to do anything very Strenuous since coming to Ellcrslie, Marheke looks improved. Silver Quex (Gilchrist) appeared to be going a little better than Paint (Tonks) at the conclusion of half a mile, the last three furlongs being run in 40s. It was a pleasing effort and Silver Quex continues to improve. After running the first furlong in 13s, FJeetwind (Gilchrist) got to the end of half a mile in 53 l-ss. It was tho best sprint of the morning on tho grass and she handled tho going in fine style. Armacourt (August) was going very easily alongside Atta Jack (Jones) at the conclusion of five furlongs in 1.11 4-5, tho last four taking 5G 4-ss. Armacourt worked with plenty of dash and looks fit.

Progress ol Beeswing Norse Lady (Fearn) went an easy threo furlongs in 44 4-ss. Beeswing (Kerr) and Boy Lu (Cameron) executed a similar task". Beeswing is making excellent progress and lias improved a good deal in appearance lately. Jayola (Butterworth) was timed to run tho last half-mile of his work in 57 4-ss. The Gisborne three-year-old is bearing a very muscular appearance and is not troublod by soft going. Jonathan (Cameron) finished too well for lllimani (Gough), and Trackman (Stokes) at the conclusion of a round in 1.54. Jonathan worked solidly, but. lllimani was not disgraced and was staying on well. Trackman is making steady improvement and is standing up to his work in good style. Captain Bruce (Hearne) finished two lengths ahead of Tupeotu (Fearn) and Piracy (Messervy) at the end of half a mile in 54 3-ss, the first furlong being run in 13s. Captain Bruce pleased by his finishing effort. Ohmaha (Cammick) was travelling comfortably to stay with Knightsbridge (Tremain) over fivo furlongs in 1.10 3-5. the first two being run in 26 l-ss. Philcourt Displays Dash Philcourt (Jones) displayed dash in accounting for Marie's Acre (Cameron) over a similar distance, in 1.9 4-5. Philcourt continues to work in improved style and should bo in good shape for his Avondalo engagements. There was not much between Trilliarch (Cameron) and Gloucester (Jones) at tho end of five furlongs in 1.8 2-5, tho first two being run in 26 l-ss. It was a good effort on the part of Trilliarch, who covered a good deal of ground. On the sand, Kilonsa (McCurdy) and. Land Girl (Gilchrist) went attractively over seven furlongs in 1.33 3-5, the first half-mile in 525. Kilonsa was doing her work well and is in groat heart. After running the first furlong in 12 4-ss, Valspear (Tremain) finished with rare dash to complete half a 'mile in 52 l-ss. Valspear is to contest tho Champion Plato on the first day of tho Avondalo meeting this month. Lady Dol'oo (Stone) was timed to run tho last four of five furlongs in 55 l-os. Cheval de Voice (James) finished useful work by sprinting home the last three furlongs under restraint. Shy (Nicholson) moved well to execute a similar task in 42 3-ss. Shy has rarely looked better and is doing everything required of him in very satisfactory style. School Song (Gough) and Gold Land (O'Connor) schooled in company over the pony hurdles. Both shaped promisingly, School Song's effort being a big improvement on previous attempts. King Musk' (Ritchie) cleared four of tho big hurdles in good style. His latest schooling has been very encouraging.
