Power Chief (B. Kowhai) was accompanied by Kopero (A. McDonald) over the steeplechase obstacles, the former in particular giving a capital exhibition. He should take a prominent part in the finish of the Egmont-Wanganui Hunt Cup.

Hirangi's jumping lias been satisfactory. L. Knapp also has Hanover engaged and their prospects at tho fixture will not be overlooked.

Manawatu is on the easy list, laitoa and Boiling Home will contest the Wcraroa Stakes. They are well forward and speedy. Taitoa is trained by Knapp and Boiling Homo by C. Thomson.

Smith) and Paddy the ltip (Collett) were not ridden ovor the last portion of five furlongs to register 1.12 1-5. Smith had his first race ride at the Pakuranga meeting and is doing; plenty of track exercise at a handy weight. : The Fox bridge—Lady Marie filly and Miss Lovelock (Smith), separately, strode out at a useful pace, with increasing speed over the final two furlongs. Hot Box (Inglis) and Pound Up (Smith) hit out freely over five furlongs, run in 1.9 3-5. Orelio (Bartle) and Princess Val (Picknell) were not after time to run three furlongs of their task in 44 l-ss. They have the appearance of having come well through their early preparation.

Maxam (Hatwell) was suited by the going better than Bromven (Curwen) while running the first two furlongs in 265. It took 1.12 3-5 to pass the post for five, the pair easing up. Beverley (Hatwell) finished in front of Pocket Venus (Coleman) over half a mile in 575.

Bronze Trail (Ourwen), the halfbrother to To Kara, who made a fair showing in his Pakuranga effort, hit out well in his work. He is the right type for a galloper. ' Dauber (Tinker) worked at usfeul pace in company with Bachelor King (Walters). Valamito and Grateful, who are not intended for serious work vet, were indulged iri light tasks in tho middle. Windcress is still suffering from an injury to a shoulder, but his trainer may have him in work shortly. F. Smith's unnamed three-year-old maiden by The Ace —Volimond will be easy to distinguish.
