SUNDAY FOOTBALL
MINISTERS COMPLAIN the claudelands ground NO AUTHORITY FOR'USE [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Friday A complaint that football was being played on the Claudelands showgrounds on Sundays was received by the Waikato Agricultural and Pastoral Association in a letter from the Hamilton Ministers' Association yesterday. It was pointed out that there were four Sunday schools in the vicinity of the grounds. It had been the pride of the association that the residents of Claudelands had been free from the intrusion of sport on Sunday, the letter stated.' The controllers of the grounds were asked to reconsider their decision to permit Sunday football. The president, Mr. P. H. Clarkin, said permission had been given to play on one Sunday only. It was decided to inform the ministers' association that the players had no authority to use the grounds on Sundays and that the matter would bo considered by the executive.
