AUCKLAND TITLES CHAMPIONSHIP WINNERS All A grade events in the Auckland provincial badminton championships were concluded last evening, with the exception of the combined doubles. R. Lewis, of Te Aroha, retained the men's singles title, although H. Fow, of Hamilton, took the middle set of the final by fine defensive play, which succeeded temporarily in breaking up the champion's attack. Miss M. Edmondson (Hamilton) defeated the ladies' singles title-holder, Miss J. Ramsay (Auckland), in straight sets. Miss Edmondson played very well, but Miss Ramsay made more mistakes than usual. In the final of the ladies' doubles, however, Miss Ramsay regained her true form when she and Miss Wade retained their title in convincing manner. Playing very finely indeed, i. Ellett was responsible for two surprises. Partnered with R. Hull, lie won the men's doubles championship from the title-holders, Wilson and Weir, who had come within a point of defeat in the semi-final against Lewis and Lewis, and in the semi-final of the combined doubles event, partnered with Miss El.
