Tho entire sitting was given over to a consideration of detailed spending, but in the main only minor items camo up for discussion and no difficulty was experienced in disposing of them in time for an early rising of the House. The formal business was quickly disposed of when tho House met this morning, but the estimates for the Department of Justice and Prisons, tho first item to bo considered during the day, gave rise to a discussion lasting over an hour and n-lialf. Very fewpoints of interest aroso from the crosstalk between Ministers and members, and subsequently several classes of es* tiniates wero approved in quick time.

The only other items on which there was any appreciable discussion were those covering the expenditure of tho Internal Affairs Department and the State Forest Service. Estimates have now been considered on four sitting days and during that time .'SL departmental votes have been passed, involving a total expenditure of £22.652,570. However, some of the more controversial items still remain

for discussion. Although the estimates for the Agriculture Department were down for consideration to-day, the acting-Leader of the House, the Hon. I'. Fraser, moved to report progress as soon as they were reached. Ho stated that the business to be taken on Tuesday would comprise local bills in the ,afternoon and an Imprest Supply Bill at night. The House then adjourned at 4.30 o'clock.
