TRAFFIC DISLOCATION
CROWD IN QUEEN STREET TACT SHOWN BY THE POLICE Traffic disorganisation which caused the police and traffic officers considerable difficulty to overcome resulted outside His Majesty's Theatre in Queen Street last evening, when a crowd of about 3000 gathered to witness the arrival of members of the Hollywood Hotel Revue Company. Members were advertised to appear in the street as famous film personalities, but the parade failed as a spectacle," the girls concerned reaching the theatre only by the united efforts of a large number of constables, it being impossible to clear a lane for their progress. Queen Street was blocked by crowds of people who attended for the spectacle, or who were drawn by the presence of others, and from about 7.45 to 8.5 p.m. all motor traffic was held up. A few tramcars managed to make their way slowly through the press as a result of tho efforts of police and traffic officers. There was an unruly element in the crowd and at one stage the tactful handling of the situation by the police when a constable was hustled alone proven ted trouble. The holding up by a constable of a woman's shoe, lost by its owner, was an incident that caused merriment.
