WEEK-END ATTRACTIONS

TROTTING AT EPSOM HOCKEY TEST MATCH Followers of different branches of sport will be well catered for this weekend. The first meeting of the Auckland Trotting Club for tho 1938-9 season will be held at Epsom to-day and keen racing should be provided. A great deal of interest will also bo focussed on the third hockey test match between the Prince of Manavadar's Indian team and New Zealand at Eden Park. The match should be a hard-fought one as tho Indians' have had almost a week's rest and the present Dominion side has been picked with more regard to combination than the teams in the first two tests.

Only two more series are required to complete the Auckland Rugby Union's championship and to-day's matches are of great infportance to Ponsonby and Technical. In the League code the Roope Rooster competition will bo commenced at Carlaw Park this afternoon, the principal fixture being between Huntly, the champion team from the Waikato and Marist.

The senior championship of the Auckland Football Association will be continued at Blandford Park. The North Island clay bird shooting championship will bo concluded at the Auckland Gun Club's grounds, Pakuranga. . Harrier enthusiasts will be interested in the Auckland provincial crosscountry championship at Hamilton and a keenly-contested race should bo seen. A goif match between Hamilton and Titirangi will be played at the weekend, and there will bo other inter-club and club matches. , . The annual championship of the Lynndale Cycling Club will be held and the Manukau Amateur Cycling Club will decide the junior unpaced championship. Bowling and basketball matches will also be played. An exciting display of wrestling is expected to-night between "Cowboy" Dick Raines and Lofty Blomfield. The preliminary bout is'between M. Maich and K. Kenneth.
