FOOT CUT WITH AXE

GREAT BARRIER MISHAP Cutting his right foot with an axe on Monday, a young Maori bushman employed by the Kauri Timber Company, at Great Barrier Island, Mr. M. Baker, was brought to Auckland last night by the steamer Kawau and was taken to hospital in a St. John ambulance. He was given first aid on the island, but owing to the lack of complete medical facilities, it was considered advisable to bring him to Auckland.
