CHECK ON EXTRAVAGANCE

Sir, —Members of local bodies are limited by law in their expenditure during their term of office. Would it not be wise for legislation to be passed for tlio same thing to be done v with Parliament, they having a fixed amount to be expended during their term of office, and before this can be exceeded a referendum of the people to be obtained. This would probably prevent'the country from being put into a serious position some time or other. Prevention Buttkk Than Cube.
