OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP Bofore a lartce (fathering at 'Messrs. Barton and McGill's Billiards Parlour the first session of the Auckland open billiards championship was contested last night by R. Carrick, Auckland amateur champion, and M. D. White. Both players quickly found touch and Carrick, with excellently compiled breaks of 20, 40, OH, 75, 85 and 73, and averaging 21 points per visit, reached 500 with White's scoro at 261. White, with breaks of 21, 45, 21 and 25, also played good billiards to averago :10.G0. It was one of the most spectacular games seen in Auckland and was warmly appreciated by tho spectators. The gattio will bo continued to-night at 7.45 with Carrick in play.
