"THE VAGABOND KING"

ROMANTIC LIGHT OPERA The romantic light opera "Tho Vagabond King," produood by tho Auckland Amateur Operatic Society, is to continue a season at His Majesty's Theatre to-night. The story of the play deals with Villon, a scholar who squandered his talents and became an associate of tho rabble. Ho was about 30 years old when King Louis XI. came to the throne, and saved him from the gallows by proclaiming an amnesty in honour of his accession. Villon meets and befriends the king, to be given his authority on one day and sentenced to the gallows on the next. The story is related in a most colourful fashion.
