trots at aldington POSTPONEMENT POSSIBLE DECISION THIS MORNING THE PROBABLE FAVOURITES National week in Christcliurch, embracing three days' trotting at Addington and three days' racing at lticcarton, is scheduled to open with the first day of the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club's meeting to-day, but, owing to the uncertainty of the weather and the bad state of the Addington track yesterday, it is quite likely that the opening will, be postponed until Monday. The Hkualu was advised last evening that, the committee had met to consider postponement, but it had left its decision in abeyance until 7 a.m. to-day. The win and place system of betting will be used and the following were expected to be fancied:— Introductory Handicap.—Pilot Peter, Sonoma Xing, Indolent. For some time the gelding has been in the care of M. C. McTigue at Methven. M. Stewart, who did so well with this pacer, will be at the meeting and will handle Policy in his engagements. In the 'early part of last season Renown's Best showed every promise of developing into a Cup horse, but after waking at/ exhibition of her field in several■ races, she failed at Timaru. Since then her form has not been iinprcssivo, but she will make another appearance at Addington.
