GUARDING THE VIOLETS
Dear Anne Shirley,—l have a little pig which a neighbour gave me and we call it Grunter. He likes to get in and root the violets out, but Tipsy, our cat. sits in the middle of the patch and when Grunter goes to root them out. Tipsy hits him on the head with both paws, and Grunter does not like that very much and refrains from rooting until he thinks Tipsy is asleep. Then he begins again. However, one time Grunter was not going to let L'ipsy do all the fighting, so he got hold of Tipsy's tail and she did get annoyed, it was so funny that I couldn't help i laughing. Anyway, Tipsy takes good care of herself, as well as the violets. Well, 1 must close now and say "au j revoir." —From a true member, Mar-/ garet E. Neeley (14), Matakana.
