NORTH AUCKLAND EXPANSION FURTHER £IOO,OOO REQUIRED [by telegraph—OWN* correspondent] DARGAVILLE, Friday Application is to be made by the North Auckland Electric-Power Board to the Local Government Loans Board for sanction of the raising of £IOO,OOO for additions and extensions to the reticulation and distribution system after the present programme has been completed. 'The expansion in the board's operations over the past year has been phenomenal, and the time is not far distant when the whole of tho works for the construction of which the original loan was raised will bo carried out and, in fact, exceeded," stated tho chairman, Mr. J. A. Mel,can. "The schedule of works covered by that original loan was drawn up seven or eight years ago, and provided for payable areas as at that time. Since then development has been very rapid, and many new districts now "require tho benefits of electric power, and can offer a payable load. "It is certain that tho demand for
J electrical extensions will continue unl abated for some years to come. It is J necessary, therefore, for the board to # ensure that sufficient capital is always S> available. The last instalment upon the I original loan will be received on April •• ], 1939, and the raising of further loans j will occupy a period of approximately ?; six month 1 ;. The new loan will be raised | only in portions as required, and the 3 first instalment will not be uplifted I before May. J939."
