COMPOSER'S RECITAL
SOCIETY OF MUSICIANS INTERESTING ADDRESS The accommodation in the Overseas League rooms was taxed to its fullest extent on Saturday afternoon when Mr. Felix Swinstcad, examiner for the Royal Schools of Music, London, who is spending some months in New Zealand, gave a pianoforte lecture and recital to members and guests of the Society, of Musicians. Mr. Swinstcad, who has composed at least 300 works, including an orchestral symphony, dealt with those aspects of musical history which agreed with important laws of modern education. Ho emphasised that mail's awareness of rhythm preceded that of fixed pitch. Contrasted works of the composer and favourite Chopin numbers, illustrated -the address.
Tho president of the society, Mr. E. Varley Hudson, in proposing a vote of thanks to Mr. Swinstcad, expressed the appreciation of members that a composer of his calibre and a master pianist should Jiavo been their guest.
